Dries Hegger

Dr. Dries Hegger

Utrecht University, Netherlands

Dries Hegger is a graduated environmental social scientist with a background in consumer sciences. In 2007 he successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled "Greening Sanitary Systems: An End-User Perspective" at Wageningen University. His special interest lies in sustainability transitions, sustainable consumption and linking research to practice.

His current research at the Environmental Studies and Policy group of Utrecht University deals with knowledge production and -use in research projects on global change and sustainability. How can we make sure that useful knowledge is produced, and that it is actually used in practice? The research will lead to recommendations for scientists, policymakers, project funders and others involved in knowledge co-production. The research is carried out in the framework of the INSPIRATOR project funded by the Dutch organisation for scientific research (NWO) and the Knowlede for Climate Research program. INSPIRATOR stands for: Integrated Analysis of the Science-Policy Interface in research projects on global change and sustainability: Implications for the Actors involved in the co-production of knowledge
